THE EX- WORKS SYDNEY ALLARD LE MANS J2X 1952 ALLARD.

Allard Background
The Allard Motor Company built about 2,000 cars and was a small London motor car company that made the world take notice. Twelve of these cars were Le Mans J2X Allards similar to this one. With engineering geniuses like Sydney Allard and Zora Duntov (father of Americas Corvette, and Ardun hemi heads) on board at the Allard Factory, it made their racing efforts very competitive while at the same time starting the trend of shoehorning a large American V8 into a very light English car.  This car is in fact the mother of all Cobras which were built some ten years later by a man that drove and won with the Allard race cars (J2, J2X).  The 24 hour Le Mans winner (of the1959 works Austin Martin Team was driven) by the name of Carroll Shelby went on to prove this idea in a 1965 world championship win with his Cobra idea that proved that a small English car with a very big American engine could rule the world in competition events.  The Chrysler Fire Power 331 hemi when fully developed could have been a world beater with 400 plus horsepower in 1952; however, the octane that was available at the time to race with hampered the true performance potential to this engine. A Chrysler Fire Power long lip 331 core long block engine will come with this car and the buyer should consider realizing the possible potential of a 400 plus horsepower mill with period correct carburetion of two four barrels or four single barrels. This power combination should prove to be very competitive to the Jaguar C Type in today's vintage classes.
