THE EX- WORKS SYDNEY ALLARD LE MANS J2X 1952 ALLARD. US$1,200,000

Le Mans History
This 1952 ALLARD is J2X number 3055 and was driven by Sydney Allard and  Jack Fairman in the 1952 Le Mans 24 hour race.  The car was very competitive in this race and ran up to sixth place before it lost its engine at the 13 hour mark.  This car’s number was 4 for the works team in 1952. The sister car, number 5 was driven by the works team members of Frank Curtis of England and Zora Arkus Duntov, Allard's in-house engineer.  The factory Le Mans Allards were able to achieve 153 mph on the Le Mans straightaway and were probably the most competitive Allards ever built for the work's factory team.  Although the car did not finish at Silverstone or at Le Mans as a factory works car, it did prove the competitive combination of Chrysler's new hemi and Sydney's inspirational light aerodynamic platform. After the race the factory replaced the Chrysler hemi 331 engine with a matching number Cadillac 331 (Numbered M-3055).
